The NSW Opposition has today called on Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian to apologise to commuters and hold a fare free day to make up for a month of horror delays on our trains.

TRAINS HAVEN'T BEEN THIS LATE SINCE 2008

Commuters have been forced to endure the worst train delays in four years under the O'Farrell Government – with new figures showing CityRail on time running has plummeted over the past 12 months.

"More than six per cent of trains on the CityRail network arrived more than five minutes late in 2011/12 – the worst on time running result in four years," said Shadow Minister for Transport, Penny Sharpe.

"We haven't seen trains this late across the CityRail network since 2007/08 – with some train lines posting their worst result since 2004/05.

The O'Farrell Government is preparing to sell off CountryLink to a private operator by splitting it away from RailCorp management, Shadow Minister for Transport, Penny Sharpe said today.

Reports today reveal that a key recommendation of a review into RailCorp is that CountryLink should be carved off in preparation for privatisation.
