COMMUTERS TO BE STUCK IN UNAIRCONDITIONED TRAINS FOR LONGER UNDER THE O'FARRELL GOVERNMENT

Commuters will be stuck in unairconditioned trains for longer after the O'Farrell Government confirmed they have no plans to replace them – with passengers from western and south western Sydney to be hit the hardest.

Under questioning from the NSW Labor Opposition during budget estimates, the O'Farrell Government confirmed unairconditioned trains will remain on the CityRail network even after the roll out of the new Waratah trains in 2014.

"Commuters will be forced to sit in trains that are stinking hot in summer and freezing cold in winter for even longer under the O'Farrell Government," Shadow Transport Minister, Penny Sharpe said.

VOTING NOW OPEN FOR 2012 GLORIAS

VOTING NOW OPEN FOR 2012 GLORIAS

NSW Labor MLC Penny Sharpe is encouraging everyone to vote early and vote often for the most  outrageous, ignorant and ridiculous comments made about GLBTI people and their families during 2012.

Voting opens online today to give everyone an opportunity to expose public  homophobia and transphobia in our community.

“This year we have received a bumper crop of over 80 nominations from around the world,” Penny Sharpe said.

“A significant number from the political category came from the Federal Parliament’s debate on marriage equality.

“The shortlist has now been decided, and online voting has opened for the winners in each of the six categories.

“Among those vying for a GLORIA this year are:

WE HAVE NICK GREINER'S PLAN – WHERE'S BARRY O'FARRELL'S?

MEDIA RELEASE | Wednesday, 3 October, 2012

John Robertson MP, NSW Opposition Leader
Penny Sharpe MLC, Shadow Minister for Transport

WE HAVE NICK GREINER'S PLAN – WHERE'S BARRY O'FARRELL'S?

It's time for Barry O'Farrell to tell the people of NSW what roads, rail lines, schools and hospitals will be built under his Government - when they will start, when they will finish and how much they will cost, said Opposition Leader, John Robertson today.

The call follows the release of the long awaited report from Infrastructure NSW outlining 70 projects it recommends be built in the next 20 years.

"We now have Nick Greiner's plan – where's Barry O'Farrell's?" said Mr Robertson.

"This is the third plan to be released in three months under Barry O'Farrell but we still don't know what the Premier will build, how he'll pay for it, or when it'll be finished.

SECOND RATE NORTH WEST RAIL LINK TO CAUSE CHAOS FOR COMMUTERS

PASSENGERS WON'T BE ABLE TO GET ONTO OVERCROWDED TRAINS

The O'Farrell Government's North West Rail Link is a Hills to Chatswood shuttle service that will cause chaos for commuters - and leave them waiting on overcrowded platforms trying to get onto trains that are already full.

It was revealed today that Transport for NSW data shows commuters using the Hills to Chatswood shuttle will be forced to wait for at least two full trains to go through Chatswood Station before they can hop on and continue their commute to the city.

"Commuters will come last under the Hills to Chatswood shuttle," Shadow Transport Minister, Penny Sharpe said today.

"Barry O'Farrell promised a fully integrated direct rail link between the North West and the CBD, but instead commuters will get a service slower than the bus and will be standing all the way to the city with no chance of a seat."

NEW ROAD NAMES A COLOSSAL WASTE OF MONEY

NEW ROAD NAMES A COLOSSAL WASTE OF MONEY

O'FARRELL SPENDS BIG ON SIGNS - AS HE CUTS BILLIONS FROM SCHOOLS AND HOSPITALS

The O'Farrell Government is wasting $20 million renaming roads across the State - in a move that won't save motorists a single minute in travel time or improve road conditions and safety.

This colossal waste of money comes at the same time the O'Farrell Government is cutting $1.7 billion from the NSW education system and $3 billion from NSW hospitals.

"This is a complete waste of money and an insight into the O'Farrell Government's real priorities," Acting Shadow Roads Minister, Penny Sharpe said today.
